Parrot Facts and Care

Parrots are beautiful, appealing, and interesting birds. Their superb colors, their charming personalities, and their high intelligence make them great pets and people have been owed them for centuries. These adorable birds do need proper care and attention to live a quality and healthy life.

Parrots are able enough to form a very strong bond with their human owners. Generally, a lifespan of smaller parrots is between 15 and 30 years, and larger parrots can live up to 40 to 50 years. Therefore, owing a parrot is a lifetime commitment.

One important element for maintaining a good life of parrots is socialization. It is vital to place their cage in an area where the family spends a lot of time together and where they can interact with the bird frequently. However, do not place a cage in a kitchen as there is a risk of toxic chemicals while cooking and other dangers.

It is noteworthy that parrot care also includes their grooming, as these magnificent birds need a proper grooming throughout their whole lives. Since their nails and beaks tend to grow during their lifespan, it is important to clip them every 3 to 4 weeks. This is necessary because overgrown nails can get caught on perches or parrot toys. Many bird owners also clip their birds’ wings every few weeks to prevent flight. In their natural environment, parrots use rain showers to keep their feathers in good condition. However, in captivity, it is essential to bath or mist pet parrots daily with clean, fresh water using a water bottle.

There is no doubt that parrots are playful, loving, and super smart birds. Owners should understand extreme significance of their requirements and how to fulfill each one.  Proper care can help parrots to thrive in a home environment.
